The Farm Kinmel
and surrounding areas are a nature lover's paradise. The magnificent mountains, pristine rivers with its rock pools and waterfalls, open space with crisp clear mountain air, offer the perfect getaway. Guaranteed to still your mind and enlighten your senses!
We offer well equipped self catering chalets as well as a self catering studio apartment, perfectly situated close to the village of Rhodes and a perfect stay-over spot for day trips to South Africa's only ski-resort, Tiffindell. Enjoy this fly-fisherman's paradise on Kinmel's own stretch of the Bell River, specifically reserved for our guests. Kinmel is also a working farm and home to some of the very endangered Bearded Vultures.
Weather wise, days are fine and summer temperatures range between five and thirty degrees Celsius. Winter temperatures are severe and often reach well below zero. It is always advisable to bring warm clothes, a hat and a raincoat as the weather in the mountains can change rapidly and several "seasons" can be experienced in a single day.
Kinmel is also situated at the foot of the famous Naude's Nek Mountain Pass. Which offers spectacular round about routes offering various rock art sites, dinosaur footprints, and some of the country's best fly-fishing streams.
Take on the 20km from Kinmel towards Ben McDui, at 3001m the highest peak in the Eastern Cape, next to the Tiffindell ski resort where you will find unforgettable and exciting winter sport options. Other spectacular mountain passes in the area include Lundean's Nek, Barkly Pass and the well know Bastervoetslaanpad.
We fully support the principles of Eco-tourism. Defined as "responsible travel to natural areas which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of the local people".
